Three things that shorten the visit.
None of it is essential. All of it means the right part is already on the van when somebody knocks.
- Model and serial On a plate behind the kick panel, inside the door frame or under the cooktop lip. It decides which parts go on the van.
- What changed, and when A date, a power cut, a boil-over, a new water filter. The trigger narrows the fault faster than the symptom does.
- Any code on the display Write it down exactly, including letters. Two codes that look similar point at completely different circuits.

Each line below is a range because the same symptom can be a ten-dollar part or a control board, and nobody can tell which from a phone call. You are given one figure covering parts and labour before anything is dismantled, and the $89 diagnosis comes off that figure in full the moment you approve the work. If the fault turns out to be smaller than it looked, the figure comes down.
